Pubic liposuction is also known as mons pubis liposuction. It is a minor surgical procedure to remove excess fat from your pubic region.

At NUME, the procedure of choice I usually vaser liposuction.

Sometimes patients choose to have vaser liposuction from the abdomen at the same time. If the wish is just to remove the excess fat in the pubic area, this is fine too of course.

Many people choose vaser liposuction for the pubic area when other efforts to lose the excess fat have failed.

By sticking to healthy eating habits after the surgery, it is highly unlikely that the excess fat will return.

The Procedure

Vaser liposuction for the pubic area can be performed under sedation or general anaesthetic. This is something that the surgeon will discuss with you at the consultation.

When the anaesthetic has taken effect, the Surgeon will make small punctures in the skin and insert a special needle called a cannula. This cannula is attached to the vaser machine.

This cannula will then remove targeted areas of fat within the pubic area. The focus will also be on getting a better shape to the area by using contouring techniques and guidance by the vaser technique. The procedure will take around one hour and then you will be taken to the recovery area. In most cases you will be able to go home on the same day as the surgery

The Recovery

It’s a good idea to arrange some time off work after pubic liposuction with Vaser. The amount of time off work will depend on the kind of work that you do. Allow up to one week off if possible.

Upon discharge from the hospital, you will be given some antibiotics to take and some pain relief medication.

You will also be asked to wear a special compression garment. These garments are always worn after liposuction procedures. They play a special part in your recovery. They help to reduce swelling and promote healing.

You will notice some bruising and swelling start to appear, this is perfectly normal after liposuction to the pubic area. It will settle in time. It’s a good idea to avoid sports, gym, and other strenuous activities for a few weeks after surgery.

In the beginning, try not to overdo things. Take showers for the first few weeks until your surgeon says it’s safe to resume with hot baths. Similarly, avoid hot tubs and swimming pools until your Surgeon tells you it’s okay to resume these activities.

Make sure that you stay well hydrated after the surgery. Eat healthily and avoid smoking for at least six weeks after the procedure.

You will have a series of appointments to check your progress. These will be with your Surgeon. Make sure that you attend these to ensure a smooth recovery.

Will I lose weight after pubic liposuction?

No, pubic liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. We will be removing excess fat to improve the look of the pubic area and make you feel more comfortable.

How long is the recovery after pubic liposuction?

Most patients return to work after about one week. It will take several weeks for the final result to appear. For at least the first two weeks you should limit your duties. Avoid strenuous activities for around six weeks.

Are there scars after pubic liposuction?

Small puncture wounds are used to aspirate the excess fat in the pubic area. These heal up over the following months to small marks on the skin. They are not normally a cause for concern.

Are the results permanent with vaser pubic liposuction?

The results can be permanent. However, you must maintain a healthy lifestyle afterwards. Pubic liposuction is not a license to eat and drink to great excess after the surgery. If you do this, then the fat can return to the same area. If you stick to a normal diet, it is highly unlikely the surgery will need to be repeated.

What are the potential risks or complications of pubic liposuction?

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved, such as infection, bleeding, asymmetry, or changes in sensation. It’s important to thoroughly discuss potential risks and complications with your plastic surgeon before the procedure.

Is it possible to have a tummy tuck and pubic liposuction?

In many cases you can have a tummy tuck and pubic liposuction at the same time.

    Who performs pubic liposuction?

The operation is performed by a Plastic Surgeon, or general Surgeon with training in Vaser liposuction procedures.

What kind of anaesthetic is used in pubic liposuction?

You should discuss this with the Surgeon because it is possible to have sedation or general anaesthetic in most cases.
